Lefkada ( Greece ), also called Lefkas, is the fourth in size island in the Ionian Sea and it is connected to the mainland by a long causeway and floating bridge. The main sources of wealth are tourism, oil production, viticulture and fishing. Near Lefkas are the small islands of Meganissi, Sparta, Scorpios, Arkoudi, Atokos, Kastos and Kalamos.
The island has a typical Mediterranean climate: hot summers and cool winters, especially in the mountains and it is approximately 1 hour by automobile away from Aktion National Airport.
It has a population of 22,652 inhabitants and the main resorts are the omonymous capital, Nidri, Vassiliki, Agios Nikitas, Ligia and Nikiana.
